It is the dawning of a new day for one of my clients. Samantha's story begins at a homeless shelter back in 2003 when I first met her.  At the time, I was working two jobs, one for Virginia Cooperative Extension full-time and the other the homeless shelter part-time here in the City of Petersburg.  One Monday night I went to work and there was a house full of clients.

Welcome

The Alliance for Healthier Virginians is a public-private partnership made up of 24 partner members who are Federal and state organizations, and local programs or benefits administrators. The partners join with grass-roots, community-based organizations to link those in need with the services and benefits for which they are eligible.

How does the Alliance for Healthier Virginians help Virginians?

The partners of AHV seek to educate Virginians through public education, outreach efforts, and direct services, about healthier eating and healthy, fitness-oriented living.

The partners of AHV also seeks to assist Virginias with providing food, menus, shopping lists, shopping, and meal planning assistance, budgeting assistance, and transportation where possible.
