The Alliance for Healthier Virginians is the result of the merger of three existing nutrition related coalitions. The leadership of the Alliance is made up of the collective leadership of the three groups from which we began.
Dr. Mary McFerren Dr. Mary McFerren, who chaired the Food Stamp Nutrition Education Leadership Council, is Project Director of Virginia Cooperative Extension's Family Nutrition Program, which is a nutrition education program for limited income families and youth. The Family Nutrition Program Assistants works with people across the lifespan in almost every locality in Virginia.
Judith L. MidkiffJudith L. Midkiff, who chaired the State Nutrition Action Plan (SNAP), is Project Associate for Operations and Marketing of Virginia Cooperative Extension's Family Nutrition Program. SNAP is a USDA initiative that focuses on enhancing collaborative relationships among agencies and organizations in each state.

Angela Beachy, who co-chaired the Virginia Nutrition Assistance Network, is a Quality Assurance Compliance Coordinator for the Virginia Department of Social Services (VDSS). The Department provides assistance to citizens of Virginia to help them live their best lives. One child, one senior citizen, one person at a time, VDSS programs and services help people triumph over poverty, abuse and neglect, achieve self-sufficiency and shape strong futures for themselves, their families and their communities.

Leslie Van HornLeslie Van Horn, who co-chaired the Virginia Nutrition Assistance Network, is the Executive Director of the Federation of Virginia Food Banks. The Federation was created to support the food banks in providing food, funding, education, advocacy, and awareness services and programs throughout the Commonwealth.
